'Fly': A mixed media canvas

Lately I have been feeling like creating another mixed media piece, so I decided to give it a whirl using some of my favourite Stampin' Up products.  Come and see....

So I literally started with a  blank canvas and built it up from there.  Starting with paper, and then washi tape, and then more paper...Layering and tucking and placing and playing to my heart's content.

I seem to be going through a gold phase.  The doily pattern in behind the bird has been cut from cardstock embossed using the Lovely Lace folder.  See the bird's wing?  That too has been cut from the embossed pattern also!

I used simply pressed clay and the alphanumeric mold to spell 'FLY' and then the gold ink to colour.  It's the first time I've used the clay and it isn't at all like I expected.  It's light as a feather so perfect for making images to put on cards too.

I stamped the leaves using the background stamp from the 'summer silhouettes' set.  The venetian crochet trim (bottom of the canvas) is just lovely.  I have also inked this in gold.

Retiring products that I have used to make this canvas are:
Encore Ink:  Metallic Gold, Flowerpot DSP, Watercolor Wonder Washi tape and Simply Pressed Clay, Basic Black Ink.  Only available while stocks last.

Non SU products used:  Canvas, gold filament thread.

If you live in New Zealand and would like to order Stampin' Up products I would love to hear from you.  Thanks for looking. :)

A Happy Owl

I created this wee owlie for a little boy so wanted to make the colour scheme masculine.  'Adventure Bound' stack is great for masculine cards and scrapbook layouts.  There's a lot of depth in the papers too which is nice.

I have used the 'Owl Builder' punch and the leaves are from the 'Bird Builder'.

See the little banner?  That's a kraft sticker.  Check out the little 'Kraft Basics' set- it's in the retiring specials.   Only $2.98 for two sheets of varied designs.  Handy for popping on the backs of envelopes too.

Remember to check out the retiring specials (details in my previous blog post).

Big retiring sale, be quick!

It's time to say farewell to some beautiful products, which means savings for you on a lot of items.  There's some beautiful stamp pads on the list (one as low as $5.98), packs of Designer Series Paper for $11.48, some amazing punches (up to 50% off) and that's to name just a few.

Follow the link to check out the retiring stock or please email me for a PDF copy.  Please ensure when you are browsing on the S U site that the box on the top right of the screen is 'New Zealand'.  Retiring Specials.  Be quick as the specials are only available while stocks last.

Please email me at:  sally.robertson@email.com to order items or request a list of products.

I'm on a mission to finish Harry's first year album, which is 8x8 (inches) in size.  I find, due to the size, that it is best not to over embellish these pages.

Here I have used 'Flashback' DSP (retiring).  It's a lovely muted and versatile range.  The corrugated banner is from the Project Life 'Playground Accessory Pack' (down to $9.98- bargain).

Shabby Pocket Pouch

Here's a project I whipped up as a sample for the Nelson Extravaganza last month.  It's a shabby pocket envelope all ready to be stuffed with goodies.  I'm thinking perhaps a set of cards or tags or both?!

I started with Crumb Cake Cardstock, trimmed to the desired size, adhered the bottom and sides, and rounded the top corners.  Easy peasy!

The shabby aqua colour (card and ink) is Lost Lagoon.  Lovely isn't it?  I've been making use of the delicate line of small pearls lately for that extra touch.

'Summer Silhouettes' stamp set.  Stunning.

The 'Something Borrowed' Embellishments are on special this week.

Hope you have a lovely weekend with some craft time thrown in there somewhere. ox

Quick and Easy Easter

The Stampin' Up Takeout Boxes are roomy!  Today I'm going to show you a quick and easy way to embellish them.

Take a decorative mask and apply ink using a Sponge Dauber.  I have used the dots mask and 'Bermuda Bay' ink (the dauber had a bit of white ink left from another project but I like the chalky colour result!!).

I tied some Jute ribbon around the box and added a 'Cheerful Critter'.  The image was affixed to an upside down tag (Note Tag Punch) with Stampin' Dimensionals.  I pulled a few strands of the wood wool out for effect.

Thanks for looking and have a lovely Easter weekend. xo
